Byleth just wanted to know if Seteth's cooking is as bad as Flayn's.
...It would be funny if it was, right? As a professor, surely he has to research something; today, it seems, his field of interest is variance of cooking skill between (ostensibly) siblings. Though exactly how he managed to convince Seteth into cooking with him is quite a mystery...
Byleth wants to think that it's just because he timed the request right — waited for a day where Seteth didn't seem to have much to do and seemed to be in a good enough mood for once — but it might have also had something to do with the slightly pleading look in the professor's long-lashed blue eyes. Might be that Seteth is a little bit vulnerable to a student — er, faculty member — asking him for something very, very nicely, with a puppy-dog look and a tiny pout and hair just green enough to kind-of-sort-of look like Flayn's.
Maybe.
Or maybe Byleth just timed it right.
At any rate, the monastery chefs have (for whatever reason) decided to allow Byleth carte blanche in terms of who he is allowed to invite into the kitchen, and the woefully young professor has automatically taken up position as a sous chef, prepping the ingredients, which means it will be Seteth's role to take on the creation of their meal for today. ]
It's fine. I'm not that good at it, either.

But it's nice, I think. As a bonding activity.
[ Byleth's first slice into a vegetable is clean and steady and firm. ]
You learn a lot about people from the way they cook.
